HTML Mail with CSS looks bad in Notes 8.5.3 - anyone know why?

I'm creating HTML mails with content like this:

[html][head][style type="text/css"]

BODY {
  font-family:Tahoma;
  font-size:10pt;
  background-color:white;
}
[/style]
[/head][body...[/body][/html]

(replaced < and > with [ ])

This worked fine in 8.5.2, in 8.5.3 the CSS does not work anymore. The mail is displayed without any stylesheet.
What's really strange is that when I move the mail to trash, open trash, select the mail and view it in the preview, then the stylesheet works!
But when opening the mail, it's displayed without stylesheet again.

Any ideas?

funny, i just had to deal with the same issue recently..

Well some css worked, but some formatting (e.g. bold font) didn't..

Also downloaded HTML Newsletter Templates from the internet did not display nice.. but i have to say: also on outlook it doesn't look always nice.. the best experience was with thunderbird or webmail (e.g. google, hotmail, etc.)..

Since it was not a show stopper or killer criteria, i gave up searching.. but if somebody has the solution for it, i would be also glad to read it..

regards,

Disable embedded browser for MIME mail found in Basic Notes Client Preferences

thanks, that's better, but not the solution. In 8.5.2 it worked with the embedded browser for MIME mail, and this displays HTML/CSS much nicer.

For example, rounded borders are not displayed when "disable embedded browser for MIME mail" is enabled.

Anyway, thanks for the workaround!

Yes, something with that setting is seriously wrong, either way configured it has mistakes in rendering HTML.... You just have to figure out with which ones you want to live with !

I do not know why it looks bad, but maybe it will help if you change the rendering engine from ie to firefox

found the problem: the CSS must not contain -webkit-border-radius or -moz-border-radius - for whatever reason.

Thanks Julian, removing all *border-radius from CSS worked.

(I also needed to remove some CSS about shadows and boxes)

Now borders are square, but at least, they have colors :)
